Giulia Malerbi, Head of Global Policy

Giulia Malerbi is Head of Global Policy at Aquatic Life Institute, where she translates aquatic animal welfare science into policy and practice. Through her work, she supports governments, institutions and coalitions in moving beyond misconceptions and embedding animal welfare into decision-making processes. She regularly engages with EU institutions, UN bodies and international stakeholders to strengthen policy coherence and drive systemic change.

Giulia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Breeding Techniques from the University of Pisa, Italy; a Master of Science in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law from the University of Glasgow, Scotland; and a Master of Animal Law Studies from Lewis & Clark Law School, Portland, United States.
